Northrup Electric Automotive Works converts classic cars and trucks to fully electric vehicles. Based in Columbia, South Carolina, NEAW’s small but dedicated staff provides personal, customized service for your conversion project. We’ve worked with electronics, power systems, and automobiles for over 35 years. Our team also utilizes local specialists to handle the power of the new electric drive train. We combine this know-how with our passion for classic cars to build vehicles that are environmentally-friendly and high-performing.  An owner of a converted electric car by NEAW would have a 21st century drive train and an iconic body style –  with the added bonus of being virtually maintenance free.

The details

NEAW uses the best off-the-shelf components, allowing our customers to use any EV conversion shop worldwide. This allows the DIY customer to work on their own vehicle.  We prefer to use Lithium iron phosphate batteries because they are the safest and longest lasting batteries on the market. We will, however, use any chemistry of batteries the customer wishes.  The team works with both AC and DC drive trains.  The AC drive trains provide better drive-ability, but less power than the DC models.  We are willing to convert any pre-1980 car or truck, foreign or domestic.  A typical electric car conversion will take 4-6 months, depending on how much restoration work needs to be done to the body.
