This car is a 1972 Super Beetle Convertible. The first step was to restore the body and repair any rust on the car. This was done by a our partner body shop that is locally recognized as restoration experts.
When the car was return to our shop, we installed a brand new wiring harness and ran the power wiring for the new electric drive system. A new interior was installed next to match the new paint. We also installed all new rubber in the car. things such as door seal, window seals, etc.
Then we went to work on the new drive train, it has a performance trans axle and a series DC motor. The battery pack uses 96 cells in two boxes for over 22 kW of storage. The drive supplies the motor with 600 amp in an instant. We added meter to monitor the pack voltage and ampere with a built in cutoff for lower pack voltage.
The car will do 0 to 60 in under 8 seconds and will travel over 80 miles on a single charge.
